On Friday, WWE.com announced that the company has lifted Jerry “The King” Lawler’s suspension, “effective immediately.” The announcer and Hall of Fame wrestler had been suspended since June 17, when he and his fiancée were arrested on charges of domestic assault.

The charges against Lawler were dismissed earlier on Friday morning, and his reinstatement followed shortly after. Lawler had been replaced on the SmackDown commentary desk by David Otunga. Lawler would now be able to return to SmackDown as early as next Tuesday’s tapings. Lawler is likely still set to be a permanent part of the SmackDown announce team, alongside Mauro Ranallo, when the show returns to live episodes beginning with the July 19 brand split draft.

Lawler has been with WWE since 1992, save for a famous 10-month absence in 2001 when he quit the company in protest when they released his then-wife, Stacy “The Kat” Carter. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.
