I've always wanted to create awesome Christmas presents for my loved ones instead of buying them, but it's hard to do without any crafting skills.
I'm not handy in the slightest, so I'd be lucky if whatever I built didn't completely fall apart. That's why I'm so jealous of this woman's amazing project.
Imgur user baileythebernesemountaindog wanted to get her boyfriend something really special for Christmas. They were both in love with artist Greg Klassen's "River" collection, but they couldn't afford his coffee tables. That's when she decided to make one herself.
With some help from the people in her university's workshop, she cut a couple of boards to size and drew the outline of a river.
After sawing the edges, she used an electric file to smooth them and add grooves to the river.
Using a computer program, she designed the track where the glass would be placed.
One of the workshop's machines then carved it out perfectly.
When the wood was ready, she attached legs that she took from an old table.
Next came the glass section. She had a professional glazier take care of that.
The only thing left to do was to give the glass some color.
She bought transparent film and went with a pretty blue hue.
After cutting all the excess film and putting the glass in place, she was left with a stunningly beautiful table.
It's so pretty that I would have a hard time putting anything on it.
I'm betting that her boyfriend was one happy guy after opening this incredible present. If you want to try your hand at making a similar coffee table, you can find the full instructions here.
