Highway driving is no picnic. Crashes aren’t uncommon, litter is everywhere, and you can wind up backed up in traffic for hours. Being stuck on a highway is pretty much the worst thing ever. But that’s just where poor Freeway Frida — as she’s been nicknamed — spent five weeks with a broken tibia!
Apparently, she fell out of a pickup truck. Sadly, because of heavy traffic and the unfamiliar surroundings, poor Frida stayed in the highway’s median. (Some believe she was also waiting for her owner to come back.)
Countless attempts were made to rescue her, but none were successful until one policewoman made it her mission to save the pup. Along with California Highway Patrol, the Galt police officer shut down the highway to retrieve her…
Despite her broken bone and being severely underweight, Frida seems to be relatively healthy and is once again warming up to people.
I can’t even imagine how terrible it must have been for Frida to live in constant fear and pain! Police are trying to locate the German shepherd’s family but presumably, if they don’t find anyone, she will go to a new forever home. Our thoughts and prayers are with the sweet girl.
