This Might Sound Like A Spooky Alien, But Researchers Say It’s Just Jupiter Talking To Us

NASA’s space probe Juno recently released some seriously eerie signals coming from Jupiter.

Since it reached Jupiter’s atmosphere on July 5, Juno has been orbiting the giant planet and collecting scientific data. As it made its first orbital pass on August 27, it picked up radio emissions from the energy particles that make up Jupiter’s auroras. In audio form, they sound more than a little spooky.

Researchers at the University of Iowa received these signals from the space probe on their “Waves” instrument and had their engineers convert them into audio files. If you didn’t know any better, you might assume that an alien was making these sounds.

I can’t be the only one that finds this slightly unsettling.

Okay, I have to admit that those noises are pretty cool to listen to. I’m just glad I know the truth about them — I’m sure my mind would go right to aliens if I didn’t.
