The attic is where mysteries live. If you or someone you know has been living someplace with an attic for any amount of time, you'd better believe there are some mysteries up there just waiting to be discovered. While you probably won't get as lucky as the Lopez family from Tampa, Florida, it's still probably worth checking out.
Last year, members of the Lopez family made a gruesome and amazing discovery in their grandparents' attic: a box of authentic pirate treasure, pictured below.
When Mike and Maria Lopez were growing up, they remember their grandfather telling stories about his father finding Jose Gaspar's (a famous Spanish pirate) treasure. At the time, they just wrote it off as him being funny.
That is, until they found the strange box in their attic.
Inside was a map of the Tampa area from the 1930s, a preserved hand, and several 18th century Spanish and Portuguese coins. When the siblings took the box to a couple of antique stores, its contents were deemed authentic.
The Lopez children aren't sure what to believe…or even what to do with the box. At this point, they're considering it a family heirloom and have no intentions to part with it just yet.

Ah, man! They've got to take that box onto "Antiques Roadshow." That would be an amazing episode.
