Earlier this week, Aquaman director James Wan revealed to our own Mike Ryan that he was originally offered the choice to direct either The Flash or Aquaman, and he chose Aquaman for the world-building opportunity and other reasons. Now Wan has also spoken to Cinema Blend — during a press tour for The Conjuring 2 — about the situation behind the scenes at the DC Extended Universe.

Rumor has it Warner is going through shake-ups following Batman V Superman‘s lower-than-expected box office returns, but there was also a rumor James Wan had walked away from directing Aquaman and we know how that turned out. Now Wan is also casually dismissing the “shake-up” rumors, or at least saying it doesn’t look like a big deal from where he’s standing.

He told Cinema Blend, “It’s not as dramatic as the press is making it out to be — from what I’m seeing. And right now I’m seeing everything as more an outsider looking into this box.”
